True to form, I suck at consistency and obviously haven't posted more than my lame initial post. I believe in blogging, or even just sharing with myself. So, I'll continue on my blogging journey.
A few exciting things have happened in wedding-land. I think we found an officiant for our wedding, albeit a non-Jewish one. This bothers me a bit. Ok. Let's be honest. It bothers me A LOT. But this woman, a fabulous Minister of a huge church in West Hollywood, has agreed to officiate AND incorporate some meaningful Jewish traditions and rituals into our ceremony. I'm pretty excited about that! I'm also excited that almost all of our wedding vendors have been selected and secured, which as any bride knows, is a huge weight off my back (and not an insignificant sum out of our pocketbooks). Nevertheless, I couldn't be more thrilled. With only the ceremony musician left to secure, things are looking pretty good! Another exciting accomplishment is that I found and ordered my wedding dress, which I absolutely, emphatically love. I'm just waiting for it to arrive and be in my possession, then all will be good.
The months are ticking by so quickly I can't even stand it, while I also can't wait! I'm torn between relishing every moment of being a bride and wondering who I'll be when I return to not being obsessed with color combinations, cake flavors, floral arrangements and vows. Seems ridiculous, I know - but there's really some truth to the bridal empire insanity the Industry conjures up. I look forward to going back to being a productive human being, not just a resourceful bride. In the meantime, however, bring on the samples!
